How do you write your first blog post? Will anyone even read it? What am I doing???
These are the first 3 thoughts that came to my head as I add this first post. So, I think what may be best is to just tell you what I am up to right now.
It is a warm, but not too hot (yet) day here in sunny Florida. I have enjoyed time with my pets outside on the lanai, have had way too much coffee already today, and have spent a bit of time setting up this page. (I have no idea if it is done correctly!)
I have recently finished two crochet projects for our church’s youth group auction that helps decrease the cost of camp! Here are the items I have submitted. Blanket pattern by Bonnie Bay Crochet – The original pattern, purchased from Etsy, had a few errors but I quickly figured them out. I ended up modifying it just a bit and doing a more simplified border. Nativity pattern by Aradyia Toys… they were a pleasure to make!
Currently I am working on the Harvest Moon Blanket (block and extension) by Hooks n Tales. I have chosen to choose my own colors and am using a yarn that I have not used before: Herrschners Cottage Cotton. I am finding it lovely to work with. I am using the colors: Oceanside, Tame Teal, Silver Sage, Posy, Pale Oak, Blossom, and Cherry Glow, all with a 3.5mm Clover hook.
I am reading Buckeye by Patrick Ryan. I will certainly let you know what I think! The Goodreads description of the book is as follows:
“In Bonhomie, Ohio, a stolen moment of passion, sparked in the exuberant aftermath of the Allied victory in Europe, binds Cal Jenkins, a man wounded not in war but by his inability to serve in it, to Margaret Salt, a woman trying to obscure her past. Cal’s wife, Becky, has a spiritual gift: She is a seer who can conjure the dead, helping families connect with those they’ve lost. Margaret’s husband, Felix, is serving on a Navy cargo ship, out of harm’s way—until a telegram suggests that the unthinkable might have happened.
Later, as the country reconstructs in the postwar boom, a secret grows in Bonhomie—but nothing stays buried forever in a small town. Against the backdrop of some of the most transformative decades in modern America, the consequences of that long-ago encounter ripple through the next generation of both families, compelling them to reexamine who they thought they were and what the future might hold.
Sweeping yet intimate, rich with piercing observation and the warmth that comes from profound understanding of the human spirit, Buckeye captures the universal longing for love and for goodness.”
And with that, I will sign off from my first EVER post….just to see how it all works and pray that I am doing it correctly!
