All the Things in Progress

We had a great weekend that started out with our youth group soiree that raised around $15,000 to help decrease the cost of summer camp for our teens! (Pictures coming soon, hopefully!). It was a great evening with dinner, a silent auction, and trivia (who doesn’t love trivia!??). Our teens did such a great job! They decorated and set up for the night, provided child care for those attending, helped with food preparation, served tables, and did all the take down and clean up. Such a great group! I did come home with some auction items, but alas, did not take a photo of the basket before we took it all apart :(. However, we did get a photo of our oldest cat “Miss Kitty” enjoying her new cozy basket!

I am in the middle of so many projects that I am feeling a little overwhelmed, yet still excited to start new ones. Here are some progress pictures on my two current blankets.

I am also trying to make up a few small items for quick Mother’s day gifts (or basket add ons!). I am really enjoying making soft cotton washcloth and face scrubbie sets. I use the scrubbies myself, and love that I can just toss them in the wash and reuse them! They hold up surprisingly well!

I finished reading Buckeye by Patrick Ryan. I would give it close to a 4 star rating but it was a pretty decent read. It will stay in my library and I may revisit it one day! The characters were developed well and mostly realistic, although rather gloomy all about. Being set in a small town, there was sure to be more gossip about the situation at hand, especially during the time setting. It did drag on a bit in parts and I feel it could have been given a little more action or trimmed down a bit.

Currently, I am reading Strangers In Time by David Badacci. I do not know what has me on a war time kick, but I am quite enjoying this book so far!

In other news, I have been a migraine sufferer for years. I have been on ALL the medications. As I am now at the age of, well…female aging… it has definitely gotten worse. A little over a year ago, I started a new preventative medication via injection and it did wonders for me. It cut my headaches down about 75%. The issue is cost. For over a year, my pharmacy would process my insurance and then apply a discount card from the manufacturer and it would bring it to a reasonable price. However, starting in February, something changed and no one can seem to explain in to me. The cost is just insane. I have started to look more into some alternative ways of managing my headaches (although I am not yet brave enough not to fill my prescription for my breakthrough medication!). I am really very surprised that a tea that I have been using has been pretty effective! I have been drinking the Migraine Tea from Full Leaf Tea company and it seems to be really helping to prevent my migraines from being so intense and it also seems to help ease them when I get them. I also must say that is delicious! I am enjoying trying out a lot of their teas right now. (If you want to check them out here is a code to save $10 on a $40 purchase: https://lnk.rise-ai.com/ezEJu6AkISx0utc )

We are hoping to finish up our homeschool year in the next week or two (at the most!) and I am still anxiously awaiting my forever backordered Apple Neo laptop….

Until next time,
